Are you a seasoned social work professional with experience in leading a successful not-for-profit organization? Are you an experienced manager with the ability to engage your team to rally behind the vision and mission of an organization? Do you have a firm understanding of Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) communities, issues, values, and traditions? If so, then our client wants to hear from you. 

As the Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing direct client service delivery and supporting and mentoring staff to provide clients with the highest level of service. In this position, your goal is to maintain a positive image within the community and achieve a high standard of practice for the facility. Some of the daily duties include the following:

  • Conducting staff training
  • Completing monthly reports
  • Managing budgets
  • Organizing cultural supports, supervision, and evaluation of staff
  • Scheduling staff coverage
  • Conducting intake assessments and staff relief when required

  • University degree in Social Work with RSW registration (in good standing)
  • Master's Degree in Health Discipline
  • ASIST Suicide Intervention Training
  • Addiction Counselling certification is an asset
  • CPR and First Aid Certification 
  • Driver’s license and clean abstract



  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a family violence centre, crisis intervention, or shelter
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience
  • Solid experience in organizational management including human resources, financial management, contract management, and strategic planning
  • Experience delivering culturally sensitive services, healing approaches, and interventions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of solvent and substance abuse treatment
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of working knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of service delivery to youth and adults as well as program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult situations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Above average skills in data collection, analysis and report writing
  • Can work independently and as a team player
  • Proficient computer skills with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Solid experience working within an Indigenous-based organization with an understanding of Indigenous culture (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) and community life on the reserves
  • Strong understanding of the complex issues of family violence and intervention with mental health, poverty, and addictions
  • A personal vehicle is required for daily work-related activities
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector/child welfare check
  • Must be chemical and substance-free.
