Indigenous Finance Analyst

Are you a number-crunching guru practiced in accounting? Are you passionate about numbers, spreadsheets and generally accepted accounting principles and get satisfaction out of seeing totals balance? Do you have a firm understanding of Indigenous communities (First Nation, Métis, Inuit), issues, values, and traditions? If so, then our client wants to hear from you.

This exciting position is responsible for providing sound bookkeeping services and financial analysis for our client. In this fast-paced position you’ll be working as part of a team, ensuring the organization’s financials are completed accurately and on-time, while following both provincial and federal legislation. Our ideal candidate is organized, detail-orientated, and has full-cycle accounting experience.

Qualifications:

  • You’ve completed your University degree or post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance
  • You have 3–5 years’ of full-cycle accounting experience
  • You will also have 1-year experience working in a not-for-profit sector in an accounting capacity
  • As an accounting guru, you have a thorough understanding of GAAP
  • You are confident in using Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Your working knowledge of accounting software, such as Sage, enables you to put numbers in their place accurately and efficiently
  • You are a self-motivator who can work independently and effectively collaborate with internal teams
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are your forte.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organization is an asset.
  • If you have experience working in or belong to an Indigenous (First Nation, Métis or Inuit) community, we’d love to hear about it, as an awareness and understanding of Indigenous (First Nation, Métis and Inuit) culture is a MUST for this role.
  • Oh yeah, of course, you must also be legally able to work in Canada and able to pass a Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
