Executive Assistant (with Indigenous Community Experience)

Are you a seasoned administrative assistant with experience in coordinating travel, following up on tasks, assisting with issues, and keeping staff informed? Do you have experience working for a not-for-profit organization? Are you practiced at writing correspondence and taking meeting notes? Do you have a firm understanding of Indigenous communities, issues, values, and traditions? If so, then our client wants to hear from you.

This exciting senior position reports directly to our client’s President and is responsible for keeping them organized, booking travel and anticipating the President’s needs. The person in this position will be responsible for taking meeting minutes and assisting the board of Directors by arranging their travel and coordinating meetings. Our successful candidate must have previous assistant experience and be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Our ideal candidate is organized, well-written, and detail orientated.

  • Post-secondary education in business or related field is preferred
  • 3+ years of administrative experience supporting an executive is required 
  • MUST have a broad knowledge of tribal communities and native cultures across the US
  • An understanding and awareness of the Native arts and culture is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Experience and interest in internal and external communications, partnership development, and relationships building.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a collaborative, virtual team environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy 
  • Proficiency in cloud-based platforms (G-Suite, Project Management, video conferencing)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take initiative, multi-task, be a team player, be flexible, adapt to shifting priorities, and prioritize work 
  • Demonstrated writing and analytical skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills, commitment to accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Ability to access a wide range of sources and networks for information 
  • Good judgment and ability to function independently 
  • High proficiency in electronic communications
  • May be occasionally required to work evening hours to meet deadlines
  • Willing to relocate to Rapid City



*Competitive salary of $45,000-50,000 USD/year, plus comprehensive benefits.
