Are you a seasoned professional with solid experience in Child Protection? Are you an experienced manager with the ability to engage your team to rally behind the vision and mission of an organization? Do you have a firm understanding of Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) communities, issues, values, and traditions? If so, then our client wants to hear from you.

Our client is an agency providing a broad range of child protection and family support that enhance cultural participation and involvement in the community. If you want to work in an inclusive, professional and culturally engaged, trusting environment, then this position is for you.

As the Director for the Agency, you would be responsible for the day-to-day operations (administration, budget, business planning, staff supervision and communications) of the agency, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, funders and community partners. Understanding and acting in compliance with all applicable Laws, Acts and Regulations with particular emphasis on the Child, Family, and Community Services Act is a MUST in this role. In addition to developing and implementing the operations policies to guide the Agency, the role also requires the successful candidate to direct and monitor the Agency’s activities in a manner that ensures the Agency’s assets are both safeguarded and optimized.

  • Foster care/homes
  • Family violence Prevention
  • Family Enhancement
  • Youth and Cultural Camps



  • Master of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work with at least 4 years of experience
  • A minimum experience of three years in organizational management including human resources, financial management, contract management, strategic planning, and standards compliance.
  • A minimum for 5 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act and Policy
  • Knowledge of DFNS Agreements and Indigenous Service Canada programs and funding model
  • Experience working with Indigenous community, government agencies, community services and families is an asset
  • Financial, governance, and human resources management experience
  • Working in collaboration with partner organizations.
  • Working in collaboration with a Governance Board of Directors.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of working in the child welfare system, including child protection, fostering, adoption, contract management, proposal writing, human resources, and financial management.
  • An individual who has experience in delivering culturally sensitive services.
  • Successfully pass a Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with local community resources.
  • Solid understanding of working in an Indigenous-based organization and culture (First Nations, Métis, Inuit).
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle with clean driver's abstract.
