Our well established Oil and Gas client is seeking a experienced Integrity Engineer in Calgary, AB.

Job Overview:

  • Reporting to the Team Lead, Reliability, the Integrity Engineer is responsible for supporting engineering functions across the Distribution Network for static equipment (tanks, pressure equipment, piping and PRD’s).  
  • This will include supporting transitions in how inspections are done, auditing integrity programs and providing technical support for CFT projects or troubleshooting.
  • The integrity engineer will be the subject matter expert for integrity-related engineering assessments, fitness for service assessments, hydrostatic test exemption reviews and integrity program compliance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support out of service tank inspections including repair criteria review, fitness for service evaluations and engineering assessments (e.g., hydrotest exemption evaluation).
  • Drive improvements in compliance to the Pipeline IMP, Pressure equipment and Piping (PEP) IMP and Tank Integrity programs. This includes taking specific actions and projects to improve integrity of these assets through a risk-based approach.
  • Complete fitness for service (FFS) level 1 and level 2 assessments according to API 579. Work with consultants to complete in-depth level 2 and level 3 FFS assessments.
  • Support the reliability specialists on found work such as major damage found during an outage, review and consult on repair requirements and completing integrity engineering assessments as needed.
  • Support the reliability specialists or complete reviews of inline inspection data to identify digs required.
  • Provide feedback and input to the team on unique monitoring techniques for the distribution infrastructure that could be used to understand and monitor the condition of our assets.
  • Work with the reliability team to define scope of work for repairs on tanks, piping, pressure equipment and pipelines.
  • Assesses the suitability of proposed replacement PRD’s when RIK is not an option according to the PEP IMP.  
  • Audit and investigate compliance to industry regulatory requirements as it pertains to fixed assets
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving reliability of static equipment through expertise in materials, metallurgy, corrosion mechanisms, failure analysis and risk management processes.
  • Works with Inspection Specialists to make a step change in documentation management and assist the corporate transition to SAP and Meridium /APM (Integrity Database).
  • Reviews and evaluates recommendations and actions proposed by reliability specialists and maintenance engineers when required.

Required Qualifications, Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., chemical, mechanical, materials engineering);
  • 7-10 or more years of integrity engineering experience in a refinery / petrochemical / oil and gas industry setting is required
  • Passion for improving integrity and inspection processes
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and Integrity Management Programs
  • Strong computer skills, and Inspection software tools like API RBI, PCMS or Meridium is an asset
  • Demonstrated Non-Authoritative Leadership skills to influence terminal operations. 
  • Strong organization skills – will be working on multiple priorities across all Distribution terminals
  • Safety and environment focused – ensure programs and processes can be executed safely, remaining compliant to standards and expectations


  • Certifications in API 510, 570, 579, 653
  • Past client experience
  • Working knowledge of Distribution operations and industry oil movement process
