Our well established Oil and Gas client is seeking (2) experienced Planner/Scheduler in Fort McMurray, AB.

Job Overview:

The Planner / Scheduler is responsible for preparing and maintaining the project schedules, collecting the required inputs and developing the initial schedule identifying the dependencies, resources, critical path, baselines and other required aspects.

The Planner / Scheduler works with the IPT (Integrated Project Team), including the Project Manager, Project Lead Estimator (PLE), Construction Manager, etc., as well as the engineering and construction contractors to gather data used in the preparation, maintenance and alignment of the schedules.

The Planner / Scheduler also analyzes and reports issues and items that may put the overall mechanical completion date in jeopardy and makes recommendations to mitigate those issues.

Responsible for:

  • Overall project planning / scheduling activities on the project.
  • Accountable during development for: Developing, maintaining and progressing SGMS and PMCS activities
  • Identifying and documenting schedule trends for action or approval
  • Attending regular meetings with the Project Manager and other IPT members to identify inputs to the schedule
  • Participating in schedule review meetings to discuss schedule status, critical path, resource-loading and other related items
  • Working with contractors to develop and update their detailed contractor schedules (CS) in accordance with the PMCS (Project Management Coordination Schedule) schedule and Project Operations requirements for systems completion
  • Working with the Project Operations Planners to identify and schedule the system turnovers for each plant or area 
  • Issuing bi-weekly 90-day lookahead schedules
  • Issuing the weekly exceptions list of missed critical activities
  • Preparing weekly contractor resource and progress curve updates
  • Preparing and issuing SGMS and PMCS schedules.
  • Accountable during execution for: Project schedule status and forecast (engineering, construction, ready for operations or RFO)
  • Project progress calculations (engineering, construction)
  • Scheduling and progress data integration
  • Scheduling and progress procedures 
  • Maintaining status and accuracy of schedule updates on a bi-weekly or monthly basis
  • Monitoring interface between ALEX and Primavera progress data transfers
  • Preparing presentation data and attending engineering and construction stewardship meetings
  • Maintaining and progressing Level 3/4 schedule activities
  • Attending weekly meeting with Area Construction Managers and contractors to identify critical activities and schedule variances that will put the systems or overall mechanical completion date in jeopardy and developing remedial action plans to mitigate effects of any slippage identified
  • Working with the contractors to develop and update the contractors’ Level 5+ schedules in accordance with the Level 3/4 schedule and the Project Operations requirements for systems completion
  • Performing daily field inspections to confirm the schedule progress being made in the field
  • Working with the ALEX Progress Leads to identify all areas of progress for data collection and integration between the ALEX reports and the Primavera schedule updates
  • Working with the Project Operations Planners to identify and schedule the systems turnovers for each plant
  • Conducting a monthly schedule review with the Project Management Team and/or Construction Management Team (PMT / CMT) to highlight results and impacts of schedule update to be reported in the monthly stewardship report. Deliverables during development:
  • Schedule development plan
  • Schedule basis memorandum (SBM)
  • Schedule estimate
  • Schedule summary.
  • Deliverables during execution: Chair monthly scheduling forecast review meetings
  • Prepare and issue weekly contractor resource and progress curve updates
  • Provide input for weekly report on activities accomplished and activities planned
  • Issue on a monthly basis a float / critical path analysis for the project
  • Prepare the monthly schedule forecast
  • Approve monthly progress calculation
  • Prepare the monthly scheduling report 
  • Attend the weekly engineering and construction status meetings
  • Issue engineering and construction schedules on a bi-weekly or monthly basis
  • Issue month-end Primavera resource and progress curves with ALEX data updates
  • Issue update to engineering and construction progress and resource charts for monthly report
  • Issue monthly stewardship presentation slides
  • Issue bi-weekly 90-day lookahead schedules
  • Issue weekly exceptions list of missed critical activities.

Skills and Qualifications: Primavera P6 Experience

Expected Years of Experience: 4-6 Years

Education: High School Diploma
