Indigenous Business Development Manager (LOCATION: VANCOUVER, but our client is open to this being a remote-based position in BC.)

Here’s your opportunity to work with one of BC’s top employers. Our client is looking for an Indigenous Development Manager. In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning, designing, and reviewing risk assessments of affordable and mixed market housing. To thrive in this role, you should have experience working through all housing development phases from initial meetings to warranty inspection. If successful, this position will require you to work closely with local First Nations and to have a firm understanding of Indigenous communities, issues, values and traditions would be essential to be successful in this position.

Understanding all aspects of project management is a must, as are your abilities to forecast, budget and review funding/ lending agreements. Our ideal candidate will have experience working within a leadership role, providing oversight and advice to the project team.

  • University degree in business administration, project management, land use planning, or real estate development and financing or a related field
  • Project Management certification is considered an asset.
  • Considerable project management experience relating to the development of multi-unit residential housing, preferably in the non-profit sector market.
  • Experience negotiating issues through influence and persuasion.
  • Experience working with and developing ongoing relationships with First Nations and/or Indigenous groups is an asset. Please mention this in your cover letter.
  • Ability to demonstrate cross-cultural awareness of Indigenous social and cultural practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project management philosophies, theories and principles, including project scoping, budget development/financial management, scheduling, tendering, quality assurance, risk management and project team coordination
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of real estate property development and construction, and related business concepts, processes and practices
  • Comprehensive knowledge of municipal planning; public consultation processes; design, development and delivery processes; project tendering and construction processes; and warranty, handover and operational processes related to real estate development and construction
  • Working knowledge and understanding of housing programs, and development and lending policies specifically relating to the development of social housing
  • Ability to coordinate planning, design development, construction and due diligence activities within a regulatory framework for a range of projects, and balance diverse interests, risks and benefits in achieving project objectives
  • Ability to develop, influence and manage relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to prepare detailed and complex reports on real estate property and planning, design, development and construction matters
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate
  • Computers must be your friend, and you have advanced skills in MS office: Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to travel
