  • Length of assignment: 1 year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review shift log daily regarding recent electrical-related issues in the plant.
  • Provide technical support to operations & maintenance during troubleshooting activities to recover plant production, as required.
  • Lead or provide technical support during incident investigations.
  • Review equipment test results and advise on the frequency & scope of maintenance activities or if repairs / replacements/equipment upgrades are needed.
  • Participate in risk analysis work activities, develop engineering solutions for various plant issues.
  • Develop, present and/or make modifications to scope of work for turnaround events as well as provide support to turnaround team during execution.
  • Make recommendations for the procurement of materials, equipment and services for assigned work.
  • Complete electrical engineering work packages for equipment reliability improvements and ensure compliance with Syncrude's SPI(s), specifications and standards.
  • Prepare high quality (technically sound, timely, complete and cost effective etc.) design packages with well-understood scopes of work.
  • Prepare detailed design, supply, construction and installation specifications.
  • Check vendor drawings and data for compliance with specifications.
  • Analyze electrical equipment data & historical failure information to produce equipment end of life strategies and obsolescence plans or produce equipment failure reports.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a Canadian University or equivalent as recognized by APEGA.
  • 7 Years experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good communication, collaboration, networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong team player and self-starter.
  • Ability to work in an office and field environment.
